Throwing an axe is an activity that has been around since the first axe was built, and it was mainly an outdoor activity until recently. Urban axe throwing is a relatively new concept where you can take that excitement indoors with your friends. We had the opportunity to provide planning and design for Primitive Axe in Glassboro, New Jersey, which provides twenty lanes for competitive axe throwing fun.
We worked with our client to find a location that could accommodate the large-scale throwing lanes and other group celebration rooms that are crucial for a successful operation. A former Sleepy’s Mattress warehouse was the perfect location and had enough space for a comfortable layout. Safety is a primary concern for this activity, and we have strategically located chain link fences and other safety guards throughout the center.
Furnishings and decoration throughout the center have a rustic flair, with live-edge wood tables and a sectioned tree mural providing an elemental feel. A living wall is prominently displayed in the lounge along with resin filled tables to simulate pools of water. The special event room features live-edge tables and counters while opening up to both the throwing lanes and lounge. Primitive Axe is now open and has been an immediate success.
